Olympics of B-Schools

CHAKRAVYUH’16

As the winter chill reaches its peak and temperatures drop to an all-time low, the undying sporting passion at IMT reaches an all-time high because sports enthusiasts from B-schools all across India have only one thing on their minds – Chakravyuh. The event derives its name from a battle formation aimed to protect the innermost warriors; it symbolizes strength, strategy and preparedness. This three day sporting spectacle of IMT Ghaziabad held from February 11, 2016 to February 14, 2016 is the flagship sports event of the college. With the 24th edition poised for a historic launch the event continues to grow in popularity and unparalleled level of participation. Popularly known as the ‘Olympics of B-Schools’ and rightly so, the event requires exceptional managerial skills to marshal a 25 member team to participate in all sports for 72 hours non-stop. This rigorous format puts the team’s commitment and coordination to the ultimate test battling all odds to rise up victorious.

The event covers almost all sports like Football, Cricket, Basketball (Men), Basketball (Women), and Badminton, Lawn-Tennis, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Throwball. Key to success of each team lies in how well they strategize and select the right fit for the contingent to optimize their efforts on the field on the big day without exceeding the cap on the team size. To emerge victorious it is vital that teams participate in all sports across the three days of endless action.

A host to various prestigious B-Schools including IIM Lucknow, IIM Indore, SP JAIN, FMS, IIFT, MDI, IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi, Chakravyuh is one of the most honored and sought after sports fest across India. It witnesses the clash of the best players across all B schools. Legends, respected alumni of IMT are the all-time shining stars of Chakravyuh with a never give up attitude. Their glory is seen in the battlefield when they outshine all other teams with their best of the abilities in distinctive sports and henceforth prove their mettle at Chakravyuh.

With more than 6000 footfall at IMT, Chakravyuh will receive wide media coverage from Red FM 93.5 and Dainik Jagran. This year, Chakravyuh will be a platform to promote ‘Janhit Jagran’, a CSR initiative of Dainik Jagran. It aims at inviting innovative ideas to face seven different challenges: Educated Society, Healthy Society, Women Empowerment, Poverty Alleviation, Environment Conservation, Water Conservation and Population Management.

This season, Chakravyuh will capture the essence of BRAVEHEARTS: the indomitable spirit of larger than life sportspersons, who resurrected themselves from impossible situations in life and scaled new heights. IMT Ghaziabad salutes Yuvraj Singh (Cricket), Eric Abidal (Football), Edna Campbell (Basketball), Leander Paes (Lawn Tennis), Arunima Sinha (Volleyball), Pullela Gopichand (Badminton), Natalia Partyka (Table Tennis) and Poornima Padalady (Throwball) for their will power and fortitude to prove themselves despite of the various adversities faced in life. It takes great perseverance to be a braveheart and the one who will perform to the best of his/her abilities to live through the hurdles, will rise as the “Abhimanyu”.
