Brief Profile

Alisha Dhal is a Ph.D. in Management (Marketing) from Indian Institute of Management, Indore. Her thesis, “Harmonizing Consumer Preferences: An Investigation into Goal Structuring and Resource Allocations,” emphasizes on understanding two specific aspects of consumer decision-making: (a) how consumers structure their goal pursuits and (b) how consumers perceive and respond to resource allocation suggestions by a service provider. She has predominantly used experimental method in her thesis and other projects.

She was also invited for a fully sponsored research visit as an exchange scholar to the Marketing Department at Leeds University Business School (LUBS), University of Leeds from 14th September 2022, and lasted until 14th November 2022. She also won second prize in doctoral proposal track in DOCMAD conducted by IRMA in December, 2022. She has also presented her thesis essay, “Equal steps to reach the goal: The preference for equal-sized sub-goals” in the Association of Consumer Research conference held during October 26th-28th in Seattle, WA, United States for which she received travel grant from the ACR. She has been awarded UGC-NET-JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) in July, 2018.

Research Interests

Her primary research interest is in consumer behaviour and goal pursuit. However, her research interests also include reward redemption behaviour, consumer decision-making, numerical cognition and judgment, referral mechanism, promotions and coupons.
