Brief Profile

I investigate how actors curate and consume Accounting Information. I explore the impact of digital technologies on managerial controls.

My research explores the themes and the dimensions underpinning the accounting choices, accounting processes and outcomes, which have relevance for multiple stakeholders, in multiple contexts. I design and deliver two specialized accounting seminar viz.  “Framing Management Accounting Research” and another seminar on “Conversations in Audit Research” to Doctoral candidate(s) in IMT Ghaziabad.  I am associated with ItAIS, Italy (for the past many years) as a Co-Track Chair, Reviewer and Panel speaker.

My current research projects contribute primarily to the Managerial Accounting and Control literature which intersects with ‘digitalization’ and ‘sustainability’ initiatives of firms. I aim to contribute to the different facets of the conversation surrounding technology usage in accounting information processing.

My research draws upon multiple theories and frameworks, and I have used both Qualitative methods and Quantitative methods to investigate the accounting phenomenon and themes. In some prior works, I studied the interplay of managerial actions, perception, judgement, preferences on firm level, department level and individuals operating performance, in the context of emerging markets.

Besides peer reviewed Journal Articles, I also author teaching cases for class discussion amongst MBA students which have been published by The Case Centre, UK and E.T Cases.  These teaching cases have been used as pedagogical resource in top ranked business schools in Europe and Asia (as per the usage statistics made available by The Case Centre, UK). I contribute articles on contemporary themes for the practicing accounting professionals as well.

I undertake service for institution building and am presently the Co-chair of Research and Development Cell in IMT Ghaziabad, India. I am the Joint Chairperson for FPM Program at IMT Ghaziabad. I serve in committees such as the Research Ethics Review Committee (RERC), Purchase Committee (PC) as a member, besides being the course anchor for Management Accounting Course (PGP) of the faculty cohort.

Awards

For my MDPs I was awarded ‘Best Speaker’ by Institute of Cost Accountants of India in 2004-05 in the 46th Annual General Meeting held in The Constitution Club of India, New Delhi.

For my teaching I was awarded ‘Shri Sharat Kumar Memorial Award for Best Teaching Professor 2024’ at IMT Ghaziabad on 30 th August 2024.
