Student Affairs and Welfare Council

Every institute is known by its students, the intent, leadership and beliefs they work with, first in the institute and then when they step into the professional world. This is what the Students Affairs and Welfare Council (SAWC) represent here at IMT Ghaziabad. The council’s primary responsibility is to act as a bridge between the administration and students, apart from ensuring discipline and security, keeping the institute’s protocol in mind.

Additionally, the council offers a platform for the students to voice their concerns to the requisite authorities.

Externally, SAWC is responsible for the fluid and graceful functioning of student and college-organised events.

The council, through guest lectures, workshops, and short-term projects, actively associates with corporates to maintain and strengthen IMT’s association with the industry. In the past, SAWC has played a pivotal role in securing the AACSB accreditation for the college by spearheading the presentation to the International PR team of AACSB.

In addition, the council played a crucial role in the Organisation Based Project (OBP) initiative of IMT Ghaziabad. SAWC, as the governing body for OBP, facilitated the entire process by recruiting, mentoring, and appraising the members of other committees and clubs, ensuring cooperation among stakeholders.

SAWC conducts a myriad of professional activities, such as:

Passion: A three-day annual management and cultural extravaganza, Passion covers a wide array of events, ranging from stimulating panel discussions and case study competitions to cultural performances. In 2022, the fest observed a footfall of over 5,000+ students and a reach of above 1 Lakh, with this number growing exponentially every year.

Business Conclave: In 2022, SAWC organised the fifth edition of the Annual Business Conclave. The theme of this year’s conclave was ‘Energy crisis and its economic impact in the current scenario,’ which involved discussion on the necessity of focusing on sustainable energy to make sure the future is brighter. The panel featured eminent personalities, including Mr Rushab Jhaveri (Founder of Recipe Cup), and Mr Ashutosh Kumar (Deputy Regional Head of Union Bank).

Professional Development Program (PDP): This is conducted at the beginning of every PGDM course to help the incoming students smoothly transition into the MBA life at IMT.

Cyclothon: SAWC organises the flagship CSR initiative of IMT Ghaziabad, Cyclothon. In the past, the event has recorded a footfall of over 500 participants riding together in the streets of central Delhi to raise awareness about pressing issues such as domestic violence and pollution.

The responsibilities of SAWC include the design and distribution of IMT Summer and Winter batch apparel.

To ensure the comprehensive development of students, SAWC undertakes several professional and social projects and activities on campus, such as Parx Hunt: Battle of Bands, Freshers’, Farewell, and New Year’s Eve, among others.

The strive for excellence, collaboration, nurturing and developing the growth-intensive ecosystem at IMT lies at the core of the council’s initiatives and endeavours.
