The Post Graduate Diploma In Management (PGDM) Program at IMT Ghaziabad

IMT Ghaziabad (IMT G) offers a two-year full-time ‘Post Graduate Diploma in Management’ (PGDM). Students pursuing this program have an option to specialise in their second year in the following streams:  Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Operations and Information Technology & Analytics.

Course Load
We, at the IMT G, follow the same credit system as European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) which implies that 1 credit at IMT is equivalent to 1 credit under the ECTS framework. The grading scale is from 0 to 10 with a minimum requirement of 5 grade points to qualify. In the first year, students study general management courses over five Terms. In the second year, students study 20 courses accounting for 40 credits over four terms including selection of electives in term 6 and 7.

Basic structure of the course:

  • The structure of the entire course is provided on the website under the “Academic Calendar”
  • For a 3 credit course, 20 lectures are conducted for a duration of 75 minutes each. Similarly, for a 2 credit course, 16 lectures are conducted of 75 minutes each
  • The pedagogy followed is the same as many international B Schools that is the ‘Case Study Methodology’

First Year:
Foundation Module: July 5th 2022- Aug 5th, 2022
1st Term: Aug 8th 2022- Oct 28th, 2022
2nd Term: Oct 31st, 2022 – Jan 13th, 2023
3rd Term: Jan 16th 2023– Apr 31st, 2023

Second Year:
4th Term: Jun 27th 2022- Sep 29th, 2022
5th Term: Sep 19th, 2022- Dec 24th, 2022
6th Term: Dec 26th, 2022- Mar 12th, 2023

Attendance Requirements
As per requirement of the IMT G, students are expected to attend lectures regularly. As a rule, the minimum attendance requirement is 80% of the total scheduled sessions for a particular course (e.g. attending at least 13 classes if the course is for 16 lectures and 16 out of 20 if the course is for 20 lectures is mandatory). Failure to meet the attendance criteria will impact the student’s grade. Please note that there will be no waiver in the requirement to attend minimum 80% of the scheduled lectures on account of sickness or personal emergencies. Cases involving hospitalisation shall be considered at the discretion of the Academic Department.

Rescheduling of Examinations / Quizzes
Students are not allowed to miss any quizzes, examinations, presentations or course submissions without taking prior permission from the PGDM Chairperson. In case where the student has a valid medical reason, a re-examination may be organized for the student, at the discretion of the Academic Department.

Student Activities
IMT G is known to have a very vibrant campus life with a grilling academic schedule, corporate events and engaging cultural and social events organised by the various student clubs and committees of the Institute.

Some of the flagship events include:

  • Crossroads – An event organised by the International Relations Club which mixes elements of business with elements of fun
  • Tatva and Passion – Hosted by the Student Affairs and Welfare Council at IMT Ghaziabad, both these are the biggest socio-cultural events on campus
  • Chakravyuh – A 72 hour sports extravaganza to which the entire B-School fraternity looks forward to.
  • Joy Of Giving – IMTians spend an eventful day with school children, filled with games, dance, and music, bringing a smile on each of their faces.

All these events are conceptualized, designed and organized by the students. This is to give these student-managers a platform to develop into well rounded, socially responsible and successful global managers.

Planning Your Exchange
Visa:
It is mandatory for all exchange students to come to India on a student visa.

Weather:

  • July to October: The average temperature ranges from 60°F to 85°F i.e. 15°C to 30°
  • November to February: The average temperature ranges from 45°F to 70°F i.e. 7°C to 21°
  • March to June: These are the hottest months in India as summer approaches with temperatures touching 104°F i.e. 40°

Dress Code:
It is advisable to carry appropriate and comfortable clothes. In the classrooms all students, including the incoming foreign exchange students, are expected to wear business casuals in their regular lectures and business formals during presentations. Students are expected to wear full-sleeve upper garments. Also, students are expected to lower garments which cover their ankles. We suggest light cotton clothes if you are travelling to IMT G during the months of March – October. From November to February, it is advisable to layer yourself with woollens and a few heavy jackets / pullovers.

Vaccinations:
Kindly consult your local physician and ensure that you are adequately vaccinated before you reach India.

Reaching IMT G:
Ghaziabad is adjacent to India’s capital city, Delhi. Delhi is well connected to all major cities across the globe. The campus is at a distance of 90 minutes from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Ghaziabad is also well connected by railways, roadways and metro. The nearest Delhi Metro Rail Station to the campus is called Vaishali and is at a distance of 10 kilometres i.e. 6.2 miles.

Airport to the campus:
We, at IMT G, arrange for a one-time pick-up cab from the airport to the college campus, free of cost for the incoming foreign exchange students. In case the student is unable to locate the cab driver, we request you to contact the International Relations team at IMT G immediately and they shall guide you. In case the students wish to reach the campus on your own, the best way to do so would be to hire a cab which are available at the airport. We request you to get in touch with us before hailing a cab for proper guidance with respect to distance, directions, fare and duration of the ride.

Stay Permits:
All incoming foreign exchange students who travel to India are required to submit their details via a “Form C’ in the first 24 hours of arrival. The International Relations Center will be guiding the incoming exchange students with the same. We request all the incoming exchange students to give this a priority on arrival and co-operate with the Center in this regard. Also, students staying in India for 180 days or more are required to register themselves at the local “Foreign Registrar’s” office within 14 days of arriving in India. Non-compliance of this will lead to a fine of USD 30.

Currency Exchange:
Incoming foreign exchange students can avail the currency exchange facility at the Delhi airport itself. Apart from the airport, there are many exchange counters in Delhi and Ghaziabad. The nearest one is at a walking distance of 5 – 7 minutes and is open from Monday to Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM. Most international ATM cards have a maximum withdrawal limit of INR 10,000 per week. It is, therefore, advisable that you carry 500-600 USD/Euro/GBP in cash when you arrive in India.

Settling down at IMT Ghaziabad
Accommodation and food are provided to all incoming foreign exchange students on the IMT campuses. A fee of INR 50,000 (payable online only) for one Term is to be paid by the incoming foreign exchange students within 15 days of arrival to the International Relations Centre. The transaction fee for the fund transfer has to be borne by the student as well. Details of banks are attached in the fact sheet above. In case of a delay beyond 15 days, a penalty on per day basis shall be charged over and above the base fee. Any delay in the payment of the same beyond a month of the student’s arrival shall result in the student being debarred from the exchange program.

Accommodation:
All academic programs at IMT G are fully residential and it is MANDATORY for all students to stay on campus during the entire duration of their course. Students are allocated rooms in the hostel on twin sharing basis. The hostel rooms are equipped with basic amenities like cots, mattresses, study tables, wardrobes and chairs.

Food:
The Mess at IMT are all handled by the students themselves. The food is made as per the Indian palette and is tasty, hygienic and nutritious. The mess serves meals 4 times a day at fixed timings. Charges for the meals at the mess is included in students’ fees. The campus boasts of an all-nighter Nescafe stall and a canteen which serves beverages and a variety of Indian savoury items. Students have to pay separately for the food bought from both the Nescafe stall and the canteen. Eating options outside campus are also plenty. Several local and international food joints also deliver on campus.

Drinking Water:
While it is advisable that you use bottled mineral water during your first few days in India, the water dispensers on campus have filtered / reverse osmosis (RO) portable water. Please note, that tap water in the bathrooms is not potable.

Text Books:
Textbooks / e-books and other related course material will be provided by IMT G to the incoming exchange students on a complimentary basis.

Other on-campus facilities:

Information Technology Labs: The Computer Centre at the campus is accessible for 12-15 hours a day and is equipped with state-of-the art technology. IMT G is amongst the few campuses in India to have an agreement with Microsoft with respect to their latest licensed software.

Wi-Fi: IMT G has 45 Mbps Internet link for free Wi-Fi internet access on the entire campus.

Library: The Library at IMT is open to all: students, exchange students, faculty, visiting faculty, research scholars and research associates, officers and staff of the Institute. It operates for 22 hours a day from 8 AM to 6 AM, 5 days a week. It has a rich collection of books, journals, e-books, corporate and research databases.

Medical Facilities on Campus: Medical Aid is available on all campuses free of charge. A doctor is available on campus on the following days and timings:
Monday – Friday: 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM
While the medical consultation is free of cost, the expense for medical tests, hospital fees and medical consultation are to be borne by the student.

Other facilities:

Fruits/vegetables and General supplies: Fresh fruits, vegetables and groceries are available in the vicinity of IMT G. Students at IMT G and the members of International Relations will be very happy to help you in locating stores and specialized items.
Banks & Currency Exchange: There are large numbers of state and private sector banks around the campuses. Major banks such as HDFC and ICICI etc. have their ATMs and bank branches in the vicinity of the campus.
Medical Insurance: We recommend that every exchange student coming to the IMT Group has a health insurance cover. This ensures that he/she can avail cashless health care and does not face financial hardships. Although health insurance is not mandatory, it is always safe to have one.
