Prof. Surinder Batra is a Professor in the IT & Analytics Area for over 12 years. He has held various administrative positions at IMT including Dean Academics, Dean Research, Area Head IT & Analytics and Head CRICKET (Centre for Rural Innovation, Knowledge Management, Entrepreneurship and Technology) in the past. He was also Faculty in Charge for an innovative course titled “Learning Organizational Realities through Organization Based Projects”. Prior to joining IMT, he was Group Leader and Senior Consultant at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) New Delhi, Senior Engineer at Bharat Electronics Ltd. India and Principal Consultant, Centre for Interactive Management India.
Dr Batra is a doctorate from IIT Delhi and MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University. His research interests include Emerging Technologies, Blockchain, Analytics, Digital Business Strategy, IT Consulting, Knowledge Management and Knowledge based Development. Besides teaching the core subjects of Spreadsheet Modelling, MIS, Business Model Innovation and Emerging Technologies in Business, he has been offering electives on Blockchain-based Business Models, IT Consulting, Digital Business Strategy and Platform Strategy.
Dr Batra has successfully completed a course on “Digital Transformation: Platform Strategies for Success” from MIT Management Education and executive education courses of National University of Singapore on “Predictive Analytics” and “Social Media Marketing”. He has published several case studies on leading organizations such as Uber, Airbnb, Flipkart, Reliance Jio and Netflix, among others. He has also published research monographs on Knowledge Based Development and Smart Knowledge Habitats based on a funded research project from AICTE.
