Admission Criteria

Applicants for all IMT PGDM and MBA programs must have a minimum three-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with minimum 50 percent aggregate marks in any discipline. Applicants who are appearing for the final-year degree examination can also apply, subject to submission of all mark sheets and pass certificate to IMT’s Academic Program office at a later date. Failing to do so will result in admission being cancelled.

IMT Ghaziabad:
To apply for IMT Ghaziabad’s two year PGDM program, applicants must be registered for CAT-2019 OR XAT-2020 OR have taken/taking the GMAT (January 1, 2016 – February 28, 2020). In the case of the candidates applying on the basis of GMAT and score is not provided, processing of application will be provisional, subject to IMT receiving the official GMAT score on or before March 15, 2020.

IMT Nagpur and IMT Hyderabad:
To apply for IMT Nagpur and Hyderabad’s 2 year PGDM program, applicants must be registered for CAT-2019 OR XAT-2020 OR CMAT- January,2020*  OR have taken the GMAT (1st January 2016 – February 28, 2020). In case of the candidate(s) applying on the basis of GMAT and score is not provided, processing of application will be provisional, subject to IMT receiving the official GMAT score on or before March 15, 2020

Note: CMAT- January,2020* test will be considered for IMT Nagpur and IMT Hyderabad Campus ONLY.
IMT shortlists applicants on basis of best score among the above mentioned tests.

IMT Dubai:
Applicants for the MBA program at IMT Dubai must have a full time undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s degree) from an accredited university with a CGPA of 3.0 and above on a 4.0 scale or 50% or equivalent.
Applicants whose native language is not English are required to take an English Proficiency Test. The minimum required score for TOEFL is 550 (paper-based) and 79(internet based) or an IELTS band of 6.0.

Submitting your application

To apply to IMT, an applicant must complete the online ‘Application Form’. There is one Common ‘Application Form’ for all four campuses – IMT Ghaziabad, IMT Nagpur, IMT Hyderabad and IMT Dubai (August 2020 intake).

In the ‘Application Form‘ the candidate must provide educational qualifications, contact details, etc. and at least one of the following: ID for CAT-2019 OR ID for XAT-2020 OR ID for GMAT OR Roll-No for CMAT- January 2020*. IMT Ghaziabad will be accepting CAT OR XAT OR GMAT scores. IMT Nagpur and Hyderabad will be accepting CAT OR XAT OR GMAT OR CMAT scores. The applicant is required to fill the IDs of the entire test score he/she wishes to submit.

Note: CMAT- January, 2020* test will be considered for IMT Nagpur and IMT Hyderabad Campus ONLY.

After completing the form, the applicant can make payment through Credit/Debit card or Net Banking:

Pay directly through Credit/Debit card or Net Banking: If the payment goes through and Application Number is generated, the application is considered submitted. Applicants will receive a confirmation email within the next 24 – 48 hours.

Short-listing of applicants for Personal Interview process (PI):
This year, applicants may submit any one of test scores: CAT-2019 OR XAT-2020 OR GMAT (1st January 2016 – February 28, 2020) OR CMAT – January ,2020 (Nagpur & Hyderabad only) score. Applicants can submit more than one test score. GMAT test based candidates are required to update their test score, on or before March 15, 2020. For candidates applying on the basis of GMAT with pending scores, the processing of application will be provisional. IMT will consider the best score before making the final admit offer.

Applicants will be short-listed for Personal Interview round on the basis of one of the following test score available CAT 2019 OR XAT 2020 OR GMAT OR CMAT – January, 2020 (Nagpur & Hyderabad campus) at this stage.

Applicants will be called for Personal Interview process only once. The candidates who have applied on the basis of more than one test score, the best score of such candidates shall be taken into the consideration at the time of Admission Offer. Please note that the Personal Interview process is common for all campuses.

Kindly note:
Short-listed applicants will be called for the Personal Interview round at the center/venue they have selected/will select in Common ‘Application Form‘ and on the date and time which they will select through the Personal Interview Schedule Form, which will be available on IMT’s Admissions Portal and enabled for specific time period in the month of January 2020.

Admissions Decision:
Admission decisions will be made after the Personal Interview process and admission offers will be made to the selected applicants.

New Admit information:
All the selected candidates will be provided information on fees, schedule, accommodation, etc.

Course start date:
All PGDM programs for academic year 2020 commences in June 2020. The IMT Dubai 2 year MBA program commences in August 2020.

 

Selection Process

IMT will conduct the Common Admissions process in February and March 2020 for shortlisted candidates from IMT Common Application form for its final selection process.

The Written assessment test (WAT)

The Written assessment test (WAT) will be a 30-minute written test which will be conducted to assess the following in a candidate:

  1. Language and Grammar
  2. Flow of information
  3. Analytical skills
  4. Ability to put across thoughts in a concise and logical manner

Each candidate will be given a topic and the candidate needs to pen down their thoughts in a maximum of 750 words

Personal Interview process

The PI process will be of approximately 20-25 minutes for each candidate, during which he/she will be evaluated on four parameters:

  • Communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Analytical /Problem solving skills
  • Business Affairs and General Awareness
  • Domain knowledge.
The final merit of the candidate is a cumulative weighted average of the following components:

  1. CAT/XAT/GMAT (best score)
  2. Academic Scores (Xth, XIIth and graduation) and quality/reputation and ranking of graduating college/institute/university
  3. Performance in Written Assessment test (WAT) & Personal Interview process.
  4. Work experience, both in duration and quality (for working candidates).

Both merit and campus score cut offs will be the basis of selection for IMT campuses, i.e. Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Dubai and Hyderabad

FAQs

If I choose to submit more than one type of score (example CAT, XAT, GMAT OR CMAT ) will I be required to pay a separate fee for each score?

No, you are not required to pay separate fee for each score. You need to fill in only one IMT Application form and you pay Rs 2000/- plus applicable taxes, irrespective of the number of scores submitted. IMT considers the best score among available test scores before giving out final offer to candidates. You have to enter one test (Roll No/ID), if applicable. For example, if you are applying on the basis of CAT 2019 OR XAT 2020 test, enter CAT OR XAT ID. You also have the option of submitting other test scores as well. If you are applying ONLY on the basis of GMAT OR CMAT and have not yet registered for test, you can put the test name only in the particular section. Once you have registered for the test, you can edit your Application Form by logging in from the IMT Admissions Portal

Is there one Common Application Form for all campuses? Do I have to individually list the campuses I am interested in?

There is one Common Application Form for the four campuses – Ghaziabad, Nagpur, Hyderabad and Dubai. In the online Application Form, you need to mention your campus preference. At least two campuses have to be mentioned or maximum of all campus preferences can be entered. At the time of final offering you will be informed about the campus you are selected for.

How do we submit copies of CAT, XAT, CMAT and GMAT score?

CAT 2019 and XAT 2020 scores are provided to IMT by test conducting agency.
For candidates who have got a final admit offer from IMT, official GMAT score needs to be provided via GMAC. For the purpose of Application processing, GMAT score need to be updated through IMT Admissions Portal by 15 March 2020. Application will be processed provisionally.
For CMAT 2020 score, you need to update through IMT Admissions Portal. The official score card will be verified during the Admissions process in February 2020 and needs to be submitted in case you are selected for IMT Nagpur or IMT Hyderabad

How do I know which scores to submit?

You can choose to submit more than one score. IMT will choose the best score before giving out the admission offer.

If I make payment online, do I have to send IMT anything afterward?

No. Once your online payment goes through and your Application Number is generated, your application is considered complete. You do not have to post/email anything to IMT.

Why Identification Document details are required?

Identification document details are needed in order to verify the applicants as well as for prevention of fraudulent activities. The identification of candidate will be done through Identification document during the admission process. Candidate has to provide any one identification document details of the following. The ONLY ID proof/s which are accepted by IMT are:
1. PAN Card
2. Passport
3. Valid Driving License
4. Voter’s ID card
5. Aadhar Card
The above has to be of the applicant who is applying to IMT. WE DO NOT ACCEPT ID PROOF OF PARENTS, RELATIVES, and SIBLINGS etc. in any stage of the admissions process.

What factors are considered in short-listing applicants for selection process?

For IMT Ghaziabad, applicants are short-listed based on one of the following admitted scores: CAT 2019 OR XAT 2020 OR valid GMAT scores. GMAT score January 1st, 2016 – February 28, 2020.
For IMT Nagpur & Hyderabad applicants are short-listed based on one of the following admitted scores: CAT 2019 OR XAT 2020 OR CMAT 2020 OR valid GMAT score (January 1st, 2016 – February 28, 2020).

When will I be asked about my preferences for Campuses and Programs?

You have to enter the Campus and Program preferences at the time of online application.

If I have already taken GMAT test, how I can provide electronic GMAT score report?

For candidates who have already taken GMAT post 1 January 2016 and before filling in the IMT online Application Form, please provide Official GMAT score by paying the additional score fee to GMAC. This is only applicable in case the candidate gets admission offer from IMT. The official GMAT scores needs to be provided on or before the registration to the program. IMT needs the final official score of the student at the time of registration of the candidate on campus.
For candidates who have not taken GMAT before filling in the online application form, they can do so on or before February 28, 2020. You are required to send us the unofficial scores via scan to admissions@imt.edu by February 28, 2020 and the official scores on or before15 March 2020. For such candidates, IMT will process the application provisionally, subject to final GMAT score.

What if I don’t get a confirmation email within 24 hours of completing my application?

In case you do not receive a confirmation email on completing the online application, you can still log on to the ‘Admissions Portal’, which will have the updated status on your application.

– Login id: Your Registered e-mail ID
– Password: Same as entered earlier during application process.

Does IMT have links with banks for student loans?

Yes. Currently we have links with Bank of Baroda and Indian Bank. Applicants need to visit the branches of these banks directly with Admissions offer letters (if offered admissions in any campus of IMT) to avail the loan facilities.

Are there any sectional cut-offs while short listing for interviews?

IMT considers the aggregate scores and does not have separate sectional cut-offs when short-listing applicants for Common Admission Process.

How to calculate percentage in 10th and 12th standard?

Please mention aggregate percentage of marks for all subjects (including optional subjects) irrespective of your Board regulations.
Please note: DO NOT TAKE YOUR BOARD RULES OR OTHER RULES USED BY YOU EARLIER WHILE CALCULATING PERCENTAGE. YOU ARE TO USE THE ABOVE RULE WHICH CLEARLY STATES THAT ALL SUBJECTS INCLUDING YOUR OPTIONAL SUBJECTS ARE TO BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION WHILE CALCULATING YOUR 10TH AND 12TH STANDARD PERCENTAGE.
For example, if you have studied 7 subjects INCLUDING ALL optional subjects, all 7 subjects must be taken into consideration irrespective of your board rules and regulations.

How do we provide official GMAT score to IMT?

Standard guidelines for acceptance of Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT®) score report are given as under:

At the time of appearing for the GMAT exam, prior to starting the test, you will have the option of selecting the program(s)* of your choice where you can send your GMAT score free of cost.

They will send the score electronically or by mail, depending on the programs’ preferences. This service is covered by your GMAT™ exam registration fee. Once you have made your selections, they cannot be changed.

To have your scores sent to additional programs, you have the following options:

  1. Please visit com
  2. Under the section ‘The GMAT’, click on sub section ‘GMAT Scores & Score Reports’. Then select the option ‘Sending your score to schools’
  3. Kindly follow the steps mentioned on webpage for sending your score to additional schools.

Please note that only electronic GMAT score reports will be accepted.
*At the time of appearing for the GMAT, a candidate can apply to any 5 programs free of cost.

How many students will be admitted in 2020?

IMT Ghaziabad has an approval of 420 seats in PGDM, 60 seats in BFS and 180 in Dual Country PGDM, IMT Nagpur has an approval of 360 seats in PGDM and IMT Hyderabad has an approval of 240 seats in PGDM

Can I fill more than one application and appear more than one time in selection process?

No, you can not appear more than one time in selection process. It will be deemed as a fraudulent activity if one attempts to appear more than once. To ensure this your Identification document will be checked at the time of Selection process and your final registration process at IMT Campus.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for International Admission (NRI / Foreign Candidates) ?

The Eligibility for international applicants is CAT/XAT/GMAT. In case you are taking the CAT or XAT, please update your roll number and registration details. We will take the official scores from the testing agency. In case of GMAT, please update your GMAT roll number and scores.

How to convert CGPA into percentage?
  1. Please follow your university/institution stated rule for conversion of CGPA into percentage.
  2. In case your university/institution does not have any scheme or rule to convert CGPA into percentage, the same can be done by dividing the candidate’s CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.
What program name a candidate should give the program code / program name / School name for providing official GMAT score to IMT?

Candidate can search by typing ‘IMT’ only or ‘Ghaziabad’ only in the search box at the time of application to GMAT.

At this point in time do I need to send my academic transcripts/documents?

No. At this point in time you are not required to send/mail/upload your academic transcript/documents.

If I have made any mistake(s) while applying at IMT, Can I make changes later to rectify?

You can edit your application by logging in to IMT Admissions Portal . You will not be able to edit the name of candidate. Editing facility on application would be available for limited period only till January 2020.

What is the application process for International applicants?

Application process is the same as regular candidates. Candidates have to fill the online application form on www.imt.edu/admissions2020 and pay the application fees to be considered for IMT.

What will be the selection process for International applicants.

PGDM (Banking and Financial Services) FAQs

Why IMTG has decided to launch the PGDM (BFS) Programme?

With digitization, increase in credit risk of leading to the corporate sector, which operates in VUCA world, and tightening of regulations, management of banks and financial institutions will become very challenging in the near future. Therefore, companies operating in the banking and financial services sector are looking for budding managers with the right skills and knowledge, who can be groomed as leaders to manage bank and financial services companies in the new era.
Moreover, consultancy firms advising banks and financial institutions are finding a shortage of executives with the right skills and knowledge. IMTG has decided to leverage its capabilities to groom young bright students who shall lead the banking and financial services sector in India.

What is the expected placement?

On an average 30 percent of IMTG graduates are recruited by companies operating in the BFS sector and 13 percent are recruited by consultancy firms. Some of the Companies, which recruit IMT graduates are , Deloitte, Goldman Sachs, Citi Banks, KPMG, PWC, HSBC, Accenture, Credit Suisse, ICICI Bank, Tata Capital and Royal Bank of Scotland. All the 131 students of PGDM (Finance) Programme (2017-19) batch have been placed. The batch Size of PGDM (Finance) Programme (2020-2022) is targeted at 60. Therefore, placement of students of PGDM (BFS) is almost assured, although IMTG cannot guarantee placement. The placement is expected to be as good as PGDM (Finance) graduates, if not better.

Whether a student can shift to any other IMTG programme after joining PGDM (BFS) programme?

What is the PGDM (BFS) Programme Architecture?

Vlerick Business School has developed the PGDM (BFS) Programme Architecture with inputs from IMTG. Courses are contemporary, and relevant for BFS industry with futuristic orientation. All the courses are compulsory.

What is the duration of the programme and when it will commence and when it will conclude?

The PGDM (BFS) Programme will commence and conclude in synchronization with other PGDM -2year Full- Time programmes.

Who will teach the courses?

40 percent of the courses is delivered by  faculty members of the Vlerick Business School and balance courses will be delivered by IMTG faculty members and Industry experts.
