Joy of Giving at IMT Ghaziabad

The “Joy of Giving” initiative was undertaken by IMT Ghaziabad’s club MADF on 17th November, 2013. The event invited children between the age group of 7-16 who are associated with the NGO SADRAG. SADRAG is non-profit organization which aims to develop under privileged children by imparting free education through their several schools.

MADF invited 126 students from different schools situated in Harola, Nithari and Nangla. The event started with lighting of the lamp by Dr. David Newlands, visiting faculty at IMT, Ghaziabad and Mrs. Poonam from SADRAG. Dr. Newlands also gave a delightful speech to cheer and thank our little guests.

The cultural events started with a scintillating guitar performance by our student, Veenu Bajaj. This was followed by performances from the children of SADRAG. Their talent and technique of dancing as well as singing blew away everyone present there. This was followed by sports events – were the visitors and our volunteers took to the field for enthusiastic competitions of Tug-of-war, frog race and cricket.

The children were then taken to the mess, where a special lunch was prepared for them. The children enjoyed the food which was served to them on the table itself by the students, who turned out in huge numbers to support the event.

Post lunch, they were treated to a movie of their choice. Arts and crafts activities, an extended photo session and gifts rounded up the delightful day for the children. The money collected by the MADF team was also given to the NGO, in the form of a cheque for their school fees.

The Make a Difference Foundation, popularly known as MADF in the corridors of IMT Ghaziabad, is the student initiated social wing of IMT-Ghaziabad, aiming to make a difference everyday in the MADness of the fast paced life of management leaders in the making. When the corridors and classrooms of IMT are buzzing with academic activities and fierce competitions, MADF tries to inculcate the dimension of shaping IMTians as global citizens, socially aware and morally responsible.
