The three-year part-time Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM-Part Time) was started by the Institute in 1981 and is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). The programme is aimed at providing opportunities to working professionals to take up formal management education while pursuing their jobs in order to gain knowledge and build on analytical and decision making skills, and, to develop them into more effective managers in the industry. The programme is different from distance learning management programmes and is at par with the regular PGPM programs in terms of academic content, coverage, duration and rigour.
It is a three year programme that comprises of nine terms in which the course work will be completed in approximately 27 months. Each term will have 12 weeks duration including the examination week. The complete programme covers 24 core courses, 9 elective courses and a project work. In each term there will be 3-4 courses and each course is scheduled for 20 sessions of 90 minutes each (2 sessions every week) to meet the requirements of 30 contact hours.
The program gives flexibility to the working executives. The classes will be held only thrice a week: Friday – 6.30 to 9.45 PM; Saturday – 4.45 to 9.45 PM; and Sunday – 9.00 AM to 2.00 PM. The participants have also the flexibility to complete the programme within five years of joining, in case he or she has to take a break due to professional or family commitments. However, before taking such term/year break requires prior permission from the Institute.
