Dr. Surinder Batra is Ph. D. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi. He also has an MBA from Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi; and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Delhi. He is the recipient of Dr. V. K. R. V. Rao Gold Medal and Prof. A. Das Gupta Gold Medal from Delhi University for topping the MBA Examinations, both full time & part time in 1980.

Dr. Batra worked with Bharat Electronics Ltd., Ghaziabad, from 1973 to 1981, where he last held the position of Senior Engineer (Management Services). Since then, he has been in Consultancy, Teaching and Research professions. From 1981 to 1984, he was Faculty with Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad. From 1984 to 1994, he was with Tata Consultancy Services New Delhi, as Group Leader for Management Consultancy and Systems Engineering. He continued in the consulting profession through his proprietorship of a management consultancy firm, called Centre for Interactive Management India (CIMI) from 1994 until mid 2007. He is with IMT Ghaziabad as Professor from July 2007 onwards.

Dr. Batra has authored several papers in the fields of Information Systems & Technology, Knowledge Management, Knowledge-based Development and Knowledge Economy. He has also co-edited two books titled, “Knowledge Management & Intellectual Capital: Emerging Perspectives” and “Decision Sciences & Technology for Globalization” based on two international conferences organised at IMT Ghaziabad on the same themes. He has also co-authored a book on Organization Development with Prof. Vinayshil Gautam, Professor, Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi, and has contributed to the book, “An Introduction to Systems Science” by Prof. John Warfield, Professor Emeritus, George Mason University, USA. From January 2009 onwards, he has been nominated as a member of the Scientific Committee of the Information System Dynamics (ISD) Project of CIGREF Foundation, France.

Dr. Batra is Area Head – IT Management and Chairperson, Strategic Information Management at IMT Ghaziabad.
