CRICKET - Flagship Event

The dream of contributing positively to the progress of our society is inherent in all of us. Sometimes all you need is an opportunity to be heard and be able to hone the idea to bring about a positive change in the lives of people around us. Recognizing this need, C.R.I.C.K.E.T organized “Kalpa” to encourage the leaders of tomorrow to think about their social entrepreneurship idea which can have positive impact on society.

“Kalpa” was organized on 26th September 2014 at IMT Ghaziabad. The event conducted in two rounds. Round 1 was idea synopsis submission and round 2 was presentation of shortlisted idea to the panel of judges. The jury comprised of C.R.I.C.K.E.T faculty coordinator Prof. Vikas Gupta, Prof. Ranjana Aggarwal, Area coordinator Economic environment and Policy, who has led commendable social projects in Jharkhand in the area of capacity building for arts and handicrafts and Prof. Harvinder Singh, Area coordinator Marketing Management at IMT Ghaziabad who has keen interest in the areas of rural marketing and business in India.

The eight shortlisted teams covered a wide aspects of business implications to sort out pertinent social issues. Teams had ideas like creating a technology intervention platform for blood banks, creating skill programs around culinary arts for semi-skilled and unskilled women in India to provide healthy and hygienic food to their customers and enable them to earn respectable incomes, another idea was to enable inmates of Tihar jail to be positive contributors to society, one group drafted a marketing strategy for the ailing handicrafts industry in India and the winning idea was creating business opportunity by focusing on the potential of vermi-compost. The winning team, “Daredevils” comprising of IMT Ghaziabad students Kaustuv Roy, Ayan Saha, Anindita Charaborty and Adrita Guha developed their idea to capitalize on the business potential of Vermi-compost.
