Each year comprises three trimesters; it means in total, there are six trimesters. First year offers all Core Courses (compulsory to qualify for all first year students). Students have a choice to select their electives in the second year as per their preferred area of specialization. Usually exchange students prefer to enroll in the second year of the PGDM Program.

To know more about the courses click here PGDM

Course Load

In the second year students need to choose 17 electives of 3 credits each. The term wise distribution will be 7 electives in term IV & V and 3 electives in term VI, in addition to one compulsory course each term. The ECTS credits are at parity with IMT credits, means 1 ICTS = 1 ECTS. Grading scale goes to 0 to 10, the lowest passing grade being 5.

Basic Course Structure for any subject offered:

  • 3 credit implies 20 lectures of 1.5hrs to be held through the term (3 months)
  • Case Study method of pedagogy followed for most subjects

Weights assigned to the different components for overall evaluation:

  • Project/Assignment, Presentation and Class participation – 15-20%
  • 3 quizzes, two before mid-term and one post mid-term. The best two quizzes will be considered – 20%
  • Mid-Term Examination (after 10 lectures for a duration of 1.5 Hours) – 20-30%
  • End-Term Examination (Duration of 3 Hours) – 30-40%

  • 6th term: Dec 2nd week - Feb 2nd week

(Please note that the dates are subject to change. Kindly confirm the exact term dates before arrival)

Institute insists on regular and prompt attendance in classes. Minimum attendance of 80 percent of scheduled session is required in every course and the authorities are very strict with the rule. Attendance requirements will not be waived in the case of sickness except in case of long period of illness involving forced hospitalization.

A minimum of 80% attendance implies that you should attend at least 16 out of 20 classes for each course in the term.

Missed Examinations/Quizzes

Students are not allowed to miss any quizzes or examination or course submission without the specific permission of PGDM chairperson. For each missed component, student is considered to secure zero marks. Exams missed due to minor illness like cough/cold or due to oversleeping are not allowed to be made over. In case a student falls seriously sick before exam, he/she needs to convey the same to APO Office through mail, phone or through his/her friend strictly before the actual start of the exam.

Mosquitoes

While in India, you will be greeted by mosquitoes. They have a way of spoiling the mood, attacking after dark. Sometimes, while sleeping you may hear one humming around your head, close to your ears, waking you up. Mosquitoes bite the exposed area of body like hands and legs. Its bite feels like a needle prick and itches, sometimes causing an angry red bump on your skin.

Do not worry; there are not many mosquitoes in the campus. But sometimes, you may find one or two mosquitoes in your room during the night. A ceiling fan on full speed can successfully disorient the mosquitoes. Mosquito repellents like liquid repellents, mats, coils and mosquito resistant body creams can easily be found in most of the shops here. Liquid repellents are best for rooms, but when you are in outside, we recommend you use body cream or carry a mosquito coil to keep them away. If somehow you got bitten by a mosquito, the pain will go in few minutes. Most Indian mosquito repellents are quite effective and the famous ones are Good Knight, All Out. You can also buy Mosquito repellent creams like Odomos, if the need arises. Apply it on the exposed areas like face arm and legs. They don’t give you a sticky feeling or offensive smell.
