Understanding Indian Markets - Visit to various companiesby faculty members of University of San Diego

IMT Ghaziabad and University of Sandiego signed an academic MoU in the month of November 2012, under the leadership of Director IMT Ghaziabad. The international relations centre IRC initiated, a completely new “CONCEPT”, by going beyond the normal/usual student exchange programs by creating a consulting practicum domain, in which IMT facilitates foreign students to avail consulting practicum in the companies for a stipulated period of time.

Under this initiative, 3 foreign students visited India and IMT Ghaziabad organized the entire practicum by contacting various companies and provided suitable companies for the students’ needs. The students from University of San Diego successfully completed the practicum for a week during Jan 2013 by pairing with IMT students in companies like Blue Dart Limited, Cox and Kings Ltd, Alankit Finance Ltd.

On this experience which they had with IMT, a team of 26 faculty delegates from University of San Diego expressed interest to visit IMT Ghaziabad and companies during March 25 – 29, 2013.

On the first day i.e. 25th March, IRC organized the whole day at IMT Ghaziabad interacting with our faculty members, students and staff. The most exciting part was lectures from our faculty members. Lectures like ‘Talk on Business Environment, Economics in India, Culture and History at a Glance, Business emerging avenues in India, Business, Training, Research opportunities’ were conducted. Apart from the lectures there were discussions on Alumni, Research Centres, Students club & committees. Indo‐US quiz was organized and was much appreciated by them.

26th March, 28th March and 29th March were allocated for industry visits and on 27th March (Holi festival), the delegates were taken to Taj Mahal, Agra.

The 9 companies include Mother Dairy, Sakha Consulting Ltd, HCL Technologies, Genpact Limited, Dabur India Ltd, Mahendra Ltd, DLF Ltd, Maruti Suzuki Ltd, Taj Hotel Groups Ltd. Apart from the above organizations we missed EVALUESERVE and FUTURE GROUP because of the time constraint and less number of participation, even after getting confirmation.

The international relations team is looking forward to further utilize this new concept of “practicum” to widen the opportunities.

Once again, the overall feedbacks received by them were overwhelming.
