Faculty Development Program on “Conducting Qualitative Research & Navigating the Publishing Process” March 02-04, 2015

IMT Ghaziabad hosted Prof Dennis Gioia and Prof E.A Ramaswamy recently (March 02-04, 2015) to give its faculty an overview of Qualitative Research and Publishing Process. The workshop namely Conducting Qualitative Research and Navigating the Publishing Process was conducted with the objective to facilitate understanding and learning of qualitative research techniques and its application in research. The workshop received participation from faculty members of IMT Group.

During the intensive and interactive sessions, the eminent professors shared their experiences in the field of qualitative research. Prof Gioia introduced the concept of qualitative research and had an open conversation about academic research & publication. Prof Ramaswamy spoke on intensive research methods- origin, techniques & possibilities and focussed extensively on observation and the interviews as means for collecting the data. Undoubtedly, it was an enriching experience for the faculty who contributed to the discussion actively.

About the Experts
Dennis A. Gioia is Professor of Organizational Behavior in the Department of Management and Organization. He holds a BS degree in Engineering Science, an MBA, and a doctorate in Management, all from Florida State University. He has worked as an engineer for Boeing Aerospace at Cape Kennedy during the Apollo/Saturn lunar program and for Ford Motor Company as a problem analyst and as corporate recall coordinator. Professor Gioia is a member of the MBA core faculty, as well as the Executive MBA core faculty. He also is a former faculty director of the Developing Managerial Effectiveness executive program, and has served as a faculty leader in many other executive development programs for both private and public organizations. In addition, he is currently Chair of the Department of Management and Organization. Professor Gioia is actively engaged in basic and applied research in organizations. His primary areas of theory and research focus on the study of organizational identity, image, and reputation. He also studies organizational sensemaking and sensegiving dynamics, organizational learning and knowledge, as well as organizational change processes.

E. A. Ramaswamy, Former Professor, Delhi School of Economics, IIM Bangalore, ASCI Hyerabad & Institute of Social Studies, Hague, Netherlands, is an authority in Ethnography and Field Experiments with publications in International Journal of Human Resource Management, etc. He has authored many books published by Oxford University Press.
